STEP 1-

The first thing you will do, is to create a confirmation code with your phone, by sending your "Surname Firstname Othername" to 55019.  They will charge you #50 for the SMS.

For full explanation on how to create the JAMB confirmation code,  click here.

After you've done that,  you will receive a confirmation code from JAMB.

Mistakes to avoid in this year's admission process

Mistake you should avoid for this year admission

Based on my research on last year's admission process,  i discovered some mistakes that cost some students their admission, that's the main reason i came up with this post.

You want a success in your admission processes this year?  Then take your time to view this blog often as it contains admission tipz that you will surely find useful and helpful.

Back to the main purpose of this post, the mistakes i noticed are explained below;

1. Wrong Subject Combination:

This mistake is common among JAMB candidates. When applying for JAMB,  you should always use JAMB brochure in order to know your subject combination. Wrong subject combination will cost you your admission into your course.  Once again,  Make sure you make use of brochure before computing your subject combination.

2. Wrong O'level grade:

Am i going to call this a mistake or a way of outsmarting JAMB and the University? Anyways,  some candidates make such mistake.  Make sure you are careful when computing your grades, because it can cost you a whole year.

3. Not being informed:

This is another issue that is bothering me.  As a student seeking for admission, you ought to be glued to educational site like this blog ( for admission tipz) or myschool.ng (for JAMB and University update).

I heard of a case about a candidate that choose IbadanPoly last year,  but didn't participated in the screening because he was not aware that the screening form was on sale.

Make sure you are always up to date with JAMB news and the University/Polytechnics you choose.

4. Wrong spelling of name:

Although,  this can be corrected but why waste money when you can carefully compute your correct name on your JAMB form. Also, not only wrong spelling but the order at which your name is arranged,  it should be in this format-  Surname Firstname Othername.

5. Inconsistent age in your document:

Age is very important during admission processing, it can cost you your admission.  If there are inconsistent age in your document, then your admission into a university might be terminated.  For example,  on your WAEC certificate,  you are 16 years old while on your JAMB form,  your are 18 years old, this give the school every reason to terminate your admission into the university.

JAMB 2018- 5 things to consider before choosing a university

Things to consider before choosing a university JAMB 2018

Alot of students are already registering for JAMB with no idea of the right school/university to choose.  If you are reading this post,  then you must be preparing for JAMB exam,  you are at the right place for the right information.

Before i go into details, i will like to let you know that in this blog, there are alot of admission tipz that you will need for this year's admission processes.

Read Also: How to create JAMB account 2018

Having said that,  choosing any university can lower your chance of admission this year.  I will be giving out things you should look out for when choosing the right university.

1. Make Sure The University Is Accredited-

This is the most important part when choosing a school/university. There are some schools that has not been accredited yet by NUC. Make sure you make your findings,  and choose from schools/universities that have been accredited by NUC.  Else,  it will just look as if you are just wasting your time and resources.

2. Catchment Area of The school:

Yeah,  catchment area is also important.  Being part of a school/university catchment can favour you during admission processes. For example,  UNILAG catchment areas are Lagos,  Osun Oyo, Ekiti and Ogun.  The cut off mark for this catchment areas are always lesser than the merit cut off mark.  This doesn't mean that you cannot apply for admission into a university if you are not from the catchment areas.  Catchment areas only give the candidates of those states upper hands during admission.

3.  Strike History Of The School/University:

We all know that almost federal universities in Nigeria strike most times.  If you are the type that age isn't at your side,  then i will advise you to qpply for federal universities that don't strike every semester, schools like UNILORIN,  Unilag hardly strike, so you can consider them.  You can also do the research by yourself by finding out schools that strike and don't strike often.

4. The Admission Requirements Of the School:

Universities in Nigeria have different admission requirements, so before applying for one,  make sure you meet up with those requirements.  For example, some schools JAMB cut off is 200 while some might be above or below 200. Make sure you are aware of how the admission processes was done the previous year to avoid any form of problem.

5. Be aware of how to calculate the screening point of the University:

Most schools uses screening point to admit students.  Though, some might conduct POST UME exam like UNILAG,  OAU,  while some does not conduct POST UME exam like LASU etc.  I have made some post on my blog on how to calculate the screening point of some schools like UNILAG, UI etc , just check them out.

5 things you should know before applying for JAMB 2018

If you are reading this post,  then that means you want to sit for the upcoming UTME exam. Then i congratulate you because you are at the right place. Before we go into details,  i will like to tell you that, there are alot of post in this blog that will help you during this year's admission processes. Also if you have any question about admission,  you can ask me through the comments or through my email address in the CONTACT US page.

Now,  back to this post,  i will like to tell you things you need to know before registering for JAMB exam.

1.  Your Name is very important:

Yes,  your name can cost you your admission if you spell your name wrong.  I have seen students been admitted by JAMB but were rejected by the University during clearance because of their names does not correlate with other documents like o'level result certificate, birth certificate etc.  Although,  JAMB use to allow for " change of data" where you can correct your name incase you made mistake,  but to be on a safer side,  make sure you carefully spell your name to the JAMB official that is going to register you.

2. Know The Course You Want To Study:

I usually find it funny whenever a student says he doesn't know the course to pick. Course is not something you should pick at random,  course is something you have passion for,  something you have knowledge about.  Don't let anyone decide your course for you.  If you are having problem choosing a course,  i already made a post they will help you decide the course you really want to study.  Click the link below to read the post.

3. Know the subject combination for your course :

Alot of student make this mistake by choosing wrong subject combinations for their course.  If you want to avoid any form of mistake,  then i will advise you to use "JAMB Brochure", look for your course and you will see the subject combination for the course.  Remember,  this mistake can not be amend after you have sat for the exam,  which means your admission for that year is not certain.  Be wise!!!

4.  Use one sitting result :

I have come to realize that students with one sitting result have more advantage than students using two sitting results.  I have already made a post about the " possible disadvantages of using two sitting result ", you can click the link below to read it.  Also make sure your minimum grade in your WAEC/NECO/GCE is "C6", anything more than that, won't be accepted by the University you choose.

5.  Your Date of Birth:

Don't ever make a mistake of changing your date of birth because your admission can be revoke by JAMB or by the University if they find out.  Minimum age federal universities accept is 16 years old, anything less than that, might not work out.  If you are 15 year's old,  just relax and wait for the following year or you can apply to private university if you can afford it.

Having said all this,  you can now go and register for JAMB, wish you success.
If you have any kind of admission issues,  then let me know through the comment or send a mail to my email address.

Kindly share this post to your friends preparing for the JAMB registration by using the share icon below this post.

Thank You.

AdmissionTipz

University of Ibadan, also known as "Premier University" is the first university in Nigeria.  Also,  it is the best university in Nigeria according to "Webometrics", for this reason,  there is always high competition competing for limited slot.

University of Ibadan always conduct "POST JAMB" very year in order to screen the best out of the candidates that choose the school.

Read Also-  What you should do if the University admit you for another course

HOW To CALCULATE UI AGGREGATE SCORE

To start with,  UI post ume carries 100 marks in total. The subject you did in JAMB will be the same as the Post utme exam but 25 questions each.

Now lets go straight to the point with illustrations as usual.

- Your JAMB score will be converted to 50% by dividing whatever you score by 8.

- Your POST UTME score will be converted to 50% by dividing whatever you score by 2.

- Then you will add it up.

Read Also- How to excellently pass your POST JAMB

ILLUSTRATION

A candidate of UI named "Ade" scored  284/400 in his JAMB exam and 68/100 in his POST UTME exam.

To calculate his aggregate;

JAMB

284 divided by 8 = 35.5.

POST UTME

68 divided by 3 = 34.
Then you add it up;
35.5 + 34 = 69.5%

This means that,  Ade's aggregate is 69.5%.
