We are know that very soon JAMB change of course form will be out and candidates will start purchasing the form.  But before you purchase the change of course form, you need to ask yourself some questions and one of the questions you have to ask yourself is that "why am i changing my course?". Although the question might be sensitive for you to answer that's the reason i came up with this post.

7. Why did i post this?

Before i digress into the main topic,  i want to discus a little on wrong motives for changing your course. Let's begin;

1. Just because you got high JAMB score

 Alot of students are fond of doing this act. You should not change your course to medicine,law or banking and finance just because of you got a very high mark in JAMB,  trust me, i am talking from experience.

Let me tell you a little story about my admission experience. When i sat for my JAMB exam, i got 292 which i believe is high enough. Actually i choose pharmacy but due to my high score, i changed my course which is pharmacy to medicine and surgery. To my utmost disappointment, i wasn't offered admission to study medicine and surgery because i didn't reach the required cut-off mark.  You should how it feels like to write another JAMB exam again. That's is the reason i am been motivated to advise students on admission issues.

So back to the post, i repeat don't change to a course because you scored a very high JAMB score.  It has a way of backfiring just like it did to me.

2. Just because your friend change his/her course

This is also common among our students. I have seen a student saying he want to change his course because his close friend also change his course with the motive that they will be together in school.  Sound silly?  Yeah. Let's move on. I promise you that you will regret this, maybe not now but later.

3. Just because you discovered that the course is lucrative

I will like to ask you this question, which course is not lucrative? I have seen alot of doctors that complain of low pay, also i have seen alot of fashion designer living comfortably. What will you say about that? Let me also tell you this that for every business there is always a successful one  and there is always a failure.  My little advice for you is that you should choose the course you will love to do passionately.

Now that I have given you reasons why you should not change your course,  let's us go to the main reason you are here for.  I will list a few reasons why you should change your course if you really want to get admitted this year.

Take note that this post is not for everybody, it is for those that are planning on changing their course to another course.

The following are reasons you might need to change your course to another course;

1. Low JAMB score

This is the number one reason you should change that your course if you want to get admitted this year. Go for less competitive courses that will assure your admission. Imagine you scoring 230 in JAMB exam and you choose medicine and surgery, if you get admitted that means you have got connections but without that I will sincerely advise you to go for course that are less competitive but related to medicine like physiotherapy, microbiology,  biochemistry e.t.c. .

The thing students don't  know is that they can cross over to medicine and surgery in their second year in school provided you had a very good grade during your first year.

2. The previous year's cut-off marks

This is also one mistake student usually engage their self in always.  It is so simple as "ABC" that if you didn't meet up with last year cut off mark, there are very low possibilities that this year's cut-off mark will reduce.  Let me make something clear to you,  it is very rare to see the cut-off mark reduce because the number of students sitting for JAMB exam increases year after year.

3. High competitive courses

 As i have clearly saw earlier that if you choose high competitive courses like medicine and surgery or law then you take the risk of losing this year admission. The only reason you can choose high competitive courses is that if you clearly surpass the previous year's cut-off mark, then you should be good to go. But as for those that barely surpass the previous year's cut-off mark, i will advise you to change your course whenever JAMB start selling the form.
