POST UTME 2020; What you should expect in this year's admission process

Having any doubt concerning this year's admission process? I will try to enlighten some things that are likely to happen in this year's admission process. As you all know that due to the pandemic going on, schools have been closed , all these has slowed down the admission process.

In this post,I will discuss about likely things you should be expecting in this 2020 admission process. You should also note that this is not official but they are likely things we should be expecting.

THERE MIGHT NOT BE ANY FORM OF EXAM;

Yes, you read it right, there might not be any form of exam , written or cbt. Universities and other institution might resort to the screening method of admitting student where their olevel and JAMB will be calculated into percentage. This was done in 2016 and it is likely going to happen again due to the pandemic going on all over the world.

THOSE WITHOUT OLEVEL RESULT MIGHT NOT PARTAKE IN THE ADMISSION PROCESS;

For those who registered for JAMB and passed, but are using awaiting result might not been able to participate in the admission process. I'm saying because the minister of education made a comment about it during the meeting with JAMB to set the cut off mark for this year. Below is a proof of what he said ,

The Education Minister who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, urged JAMB and tertiary institutions to consider candidates with previous years' Senior School Certificate Examination and other qualifying results, to proceed with the admission process. He said the government will make an arrangement that will accommodate applicants who will be taking the examination when the opportunity to do so is worked out.

According to him, he said the institution should consider candidats with previous years olevel in the admission process and he also said that the government will make arrangements for those without olvel results.

ADMISSION PROCESS MIGHT BEGIN IN AUGUST 2020

The admission process for this year might begin in August, hopefully schools should have resume. So I urge all candidate to get prepared for this .

It is important to know that all these are likely things that are going to happen, so I will encourage you all to keep reading for POST UTME exam of eventually there is going to be an exam.

Things You Should Consider When Choosing A Course

Jamb 2019
I want  to be a doctor because my daddy or my brother is a doctor,  therefore i must study medicine,  I want to be a Lawyer because my sister or mum is a lawyer, therefore i must study Law.

The above statement has become an anthem in almost every aspirants lip,  no wonder Medicine and Law are the most sought courses in every university in Nigeria,  where you see over 10,000 aspirants competing for 100 quota ( survival for the fittest).

In this post,  i want to discuss the things to be considered in choosing the right course in JAMB 2019. This post will open your eye to see if you are academically fit for the fierce competition for Medicine or Law.

Choosing a career/course for yourself is one of the most difficult task that will decide your future. If you get it wrong now,  you will get it wrong forever. That's why i will always advise anyone to think before settling down for a career/course that will determine your success in the future.

POST OUTLINES

In this post,  i will be stating out reasons on;
  • Things you should not consider when choosing a career/course.

  • Things to consider when choosing a career/course.

But before going into those outlines above,  i want you to know something which might be of importance to you. I want you to know what eventually happens when you choose the wrong career/course and when you choose the right career/course.

 When you choose the wrong course;

  • You won't  have a clear vision or plans for your future.
  • You will be full of regrets ( had i known)
  • You will look confused since you have no clear plans for your future.
  • You won't love your career/course since it is not what you love to do.
  • You will feel unsuccessful.

 When you choose the right course;

  • You will surely have clear plans for your future.
  • Since you have clear plans for your future,  you won't be confuse.
  • You will feel successful even when you have not attain success.
  • You will love your career since it is what you love to do (passion).
  • Honestly,  you will be filled with happiness all through your life.

Looking at those things i listed above, i am very certain you will love to choose the right course/career. Who doesn't want a fulfilled career?  Of course,  everyone want to be successful one way or the other, i assure you that reading this post will be the beginning of your success.

Now let us go into the post outline for this topic, i hope you are reading attentively because this is where you will know how to choose a career/course.

THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A COURSE/CAREER

Admissiontipz

The Career/Course is Lucrative: Choosing a career/course because it is lucrative is a bad start for you. Please don't get me wrong,  i didn't say it is wrong to choose a lucrative career/course but all I'm saying is that choosing a course "just" because it is very lucrative in which you don't have passion for,  is wrong.  For instance,  a student best subject is physics and in addition to that,  the student is allergic to seeing blood, it shows that medicine and surgery is not his/her career.  Be wise!!!

The Career is Popular: Alot of students nowadays prefer to choose popular courses like medicine and surgery or law simply because it is a popular course.  The truth is that there are alot of doctors regretting why they opted in for medicine and surgery,  and this only happen when you choose a career/course for the wrong reasons other than having passion for the career/course. Courses like biochemistry, microbiology etc are very good courses to choose, why waste your time pursuing medicine and surgery that is always highly competitive.  Choose a career/course because you have passion and knowledge about it and not because it is popular.

Family influence : I have seen families dictates for their children the kind of course they want them to study. Most times,  they will want their children to study the course they studied in school or popular courses like medicine and surgery or law or banking and finance. This kind of situation can be so frustrating because i have once experience it , but how did i solve the problem? I had to sit my parents down and tell them that the course they want me to study is my weakness, that i will fail woefully in that course.  Pour your mind out to them,  make them see reasons why you can't study the course. Take a decision today that will make you happy tomorrow because your family won't be there for you forever.

THINGS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A COURSE/CAREER

Know your strength and weakness: Most students have their strengths and weaknesses one way or the other.  It is rare for a student to be good in all areas.  For instance,  you might be good in mathematics (strength) and be finding biology very difficult (weakness). All this are important factors when deciding your course/career.

Your best subject: This also play a vital role when choosing your course/career. For instance,  if your best subjects are physics and mathematics,  then you should focus on courses based on those two subjects like engineering course. Knowing your best subject will restrict you from choosing courses that are not relevant,  for instance, a student that love mathematics and physics but detest biology and chemistry should know that he/she should remove courses like medicine and surgery from the option when choosing a course/career.

AdmissionTipz

Your goals: I expect every average student to have a goal, i mean a life plan.  You should find time to ask yourself what you really want to be in future,  you can also seek advice from your parents or professional in different field , by doing this,  you will garner more knowledge about the course/career you really want to study.

Admissiontipz

Your passion: The whole list will be incomplete with this,  passion.  Choosing a course/career must be based on your passion. Ask yourself this questions; do i really want this course?  Do i have any skills related to this course? Give an answer to these questions and you will be good to go.  Everything is all about passion because you will easily get frustrated if you choose a course/career you don't have passion for.  Check yourself!!!

Let me engage you in a quick exercise by asking you some questions and i will be glad you give your answers in the comment box below.

  • What is your best subject?
  • What course do you wish to study?
  • Why did you prefer that course?
  • Does the course correlate with your best subject?
  • Apart from that course,  what other course do you prefer?

Kindly answer these questions in the comment box below to be certain about the course/career you have chosen.

JAMB 2019 - Things you should know before registering for JAMB 2019

Register JAMB 2019

If you are reading this post,  then that means you want to sit for the upcoming UTME exam. Then i congratulate you because you are at the right place. Before we go into details,  i will like to tell you that, there are alot of post in this blog that will help you during this year's admission processes. Also if you have any question about admission,  you can ask me through the comments or through my email address in the CONTACT US page.

Now,  back to this post,  i will like to tell you things you need to know before registering for JAMB exam.

1.  Your Name is very important:

Yes,  your name can cost you your admission if you spell your name wrong.  I have seen students been admitted by JAMB but were rejected by the University during clearance because of their names does not correlate with other documents like o'level result certificate, birth certificate etc.  Although,  JAMB use to allow for " change of data" where you can correct your name incase you made mistake,  but to be on a safer side,  make sure you carefully spell your name to the JAMB official that is going to register you.

2. Know The Course You Want To Study:

I usually find it funny whenever a student says he doesn't know the course to pick. Course is not something you should pick at random,  course is something you have passion for,  something you have knowledge about.  Don't let anyone decide your course for you.  If you are having problem choosing a course,  i already made a post they will help you decide the course you really want to study.  Click the link below to read the post.

*What To consider when choosing a course 💧💧

3. Know the subject combination for your course :

Alot of student make this mistake by choosing wrong subject combinations for their course.  If you want to avoid any form of mistake,  then i will advise you to use "JAMB Brochure", look for your course and you will see the subject combination for the course.  Remember,  this mistake can not be amend after you have sat for the exam,  which means your admission for that year is not certain.  Be wise!!!

4.  Use one sitting result :

I have come to realize that students with one sitting result have more advantage than students using two sitting results.  I have already made a post about the " possible disadvantages of using two sitting result ", you can click the link below to read it.  Also make sure your minimum grade in your WAEC/NECO/GCE is "C6", anything more than that, won't be accepted by the University you choose.

5.  Your Date of Birth:

Don't ever make a mistake of changing your date of birth because your admission can be revoke by JAMB or by the University if they find out.  Minimum age federal universities accept is 16 years old, anything less than that, might not work out.  If you are 15 year's old,  just relax and wait for the following year or you can apply to private university if you can afford it.

Having said all this,  you can now go and register for JAMB, wish you success.
If you have any kind of admission issues,  then let me know through the comment or send a mail to my email address.

5 Important Things To Take Note When Registering For Post UTME 2018

Important things to take note when registering for your post UTME

The time we all waited for, has come.

It is no longer news that different schools like UNN,  UNIPORT,  OOU,  UNIBEN and others,  have released their Post UTME form.  So,  what does this tells you?

You can answer that yourself.

Before I focus on the topic of this post,  i will love to advise you (aspirants)  to take your time and read on tips to pass your post UTME and some other important info on this blog.

Also you can get a post UTME compiled past questions from us for free,  all you have to do is to comment your email address on this blog and i will send the pdf format as soon as possible.

Now back to the topic of the post,  "Important things to take note when registering for post UTME ".

Alot of students make mistakes whenever they are registering for post UTME online.  This post will shed more light on the mistakes and corrections to them.

1. Your Name Must Be Spelt Correctly-

This is the number one and most common mistake made by aspirants when registering for post UTME.  Spelling your name wrongly might be a very big problem on the day of your exam.

Post UTME is not like JAMB where you can correct your mistake after you have successfully registered.  So you have to be very careful when registering online.

2. Use the same name you used in your birth cert.  , WAEC  , JAMB -

I have seen occasions where an aspirant use , for example,  "Olaniyi Adeola Gloria" in the WAEC registration and later use , for example, " Olaniyi Adeola Bukola" in the JAMB registration .

This will be a very big problem to you either during your post UTME registration or during registration after being admitted.

Also,  you should arrange the name in the same way it was arranged in your birth cert.  and other vital documents.

3. Input Your Correct O'level Result -

This shouldn't be a new thing to aspirants , although it might be intentional or a mistake, either both sides,  it is a big offence.

Alot of UNILORIN newly admitted students who were caught in the act were sent home after being admitted. I know you don't want to be in that same situation,  then do the right thing.

4. Online payment during registration of post UTME-

This is sometimes, a big problem to the aspirants who are registering for the post UTME online because you will be asked to pay some fee for the registration.  I will advise you to do this in a cybercafe where you know is safe,  don't take the risk of paying online with your smartphone.

 I have received complains from aspirants in the past about not receiving RRR pin after the money have been deducted from your bank account, allowing to pay twice.  I know you don't want that,  do you?

and the most important part;

5. Read the instructions before registering online-

I will advise you to read the guidelines before registering so as to avoid any form of mistakes that can cost you your chance of being admitted this year.  Be careful.

In conclusion,  never allow anyone to register for you in your absence,  make sure you are there to access any error before the registration is being submitted.
